The Kangen Machine Makes Artificial Alkaline WaterModern water ionizers make naturally alkaline water by using electromagnetism to take out the acidic elements in tap water. The water they make is naturally alkaline because it gets it’s alkalinity from the minerals that are naturally present in tap water. But the Kangen Water machine is different. In some cases, it doesn’t have enough power to make naturally alkaline water. When that happens, you have to add an electrolysis enhancer, calcium glycerophosate, to the machine to make it work right. When you add chemicals to the Kangen Machine to make alkaline water, the water you get loses its natural goodness and becomes artificially alkaline water.
Kangen electrolysis enhancer: Kidney stone warning
The electrolysis enhancing chemical that Kangen uses to make artificially alkaline water is called calcium glycerophosphate. There a few things you should know about it:
- Calcium Glycerophosphate is a drug, according to WebMD
- Side effects can be serious
- People with a history of kidney stones should talk to their doctor
WebMD Precautions If you are going use calcium glycerophosphate you need to consult a pharmacist or physician first. Ask your doctor if calcium glycerophosphate is safe for you, especially if you have a history of kidney stones! If you experience painful side effects when drinking artificially alkaline Kangen Water, call the Poison Control Center at 1 800 222-1222 to report it. Stop drinking Kangen Water, and go to the hospital.
Kidney Stones can and will form if you take too much calcium glycerophosphate. You may not experience any other side effects while the stones are forming. If you have a history of forming kidney stones you should speak to your doctor before drinking artificially alkaline Kangen Water
Side effects are rare if calcium glycerophosphate is taken as directed. That’s why we urge you to speak with your doctor before using it as an electrolysis enhancer in the Kangen Water machine. Possible side effects of calcium glycerophosphate include:
Your best bet, if you own a Kangen machine, is never to use calcium glycerophosphate in it. If you find that your Kangen machine can’t reach acceptable pH levels without using added chemicals, you should trade it in on a better quality machine.
Ionizers that make naturally alkaline water
The best way to avoid the possible side effects of artificially alkaline water is to buy a water ionizer that’s powerful enough to work without chemicals. Machines that are powerful enough to work without chemicals will have two features you should look for:
- Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) Modern power supply
- At least 300 Watts of power
The Kangen water machine only has 230 Watts of power, that’s why it will need chemicals to work right in some circumstances.
Water Ionizer Expert recommends that you get the most powerful machine you can. Powerful ionizers will have 500 or more Watts of power. That is enough to make both alkaline and acidic waters at optimum pH levels. Our favorite brand, Life Ionizers actually guarantees that you’ll get the highest antioxidant levels possible at pH levels that are perfectly balanced for daily consumption. The most powerful Life machine can run up to 800 Watts! All that power means that you get naturally alkaline water. It's just like the water from a mountain spring, with the highest age-fighting antioxidant potential possible.
